The Consultation and Patch Test Process and Why it’s So Important.
Here at Bare UK in central Oxford we pride ourselves on ensuring that you are always go through a comprehensive patch test and consultation process prior to your treatment.
This process at Bare UK goes like this:
1.Do some research – find the clinic that you are comfortable with. Ideally you are looking for someone with lots of experience in achieving the best results for you. If you chose Bare UK we can offer lots of that and also the best and most advanced pain free laser tech.
2. Book in for a patch test and consultation – You can do this multiple ways. On our booking widget on our website or on google if you search for us that way. You can also email/call or text us if you have some preliminary questions. All the details are on our contact page on the website. There is a £40 deposit paid for the patch test and consultation which is redeemed against your first treatment. You will still need to book in for a patch test and consultation even if you have had laser treatment in another clinic. It’s an insurance protocol we have to adhere to.
3. As soon as you book in – we will send you confirmation plus an online consultation which you will fill in prior to your visit. You will also receive a detailed list of what to do and not to pre/post treatment.
4. Come in for your appointment – where you will meet Julie who will walk you through the process, cost and answer any further questions you have and perform a patch test near the area to be treated.
5. We will then find you a suitable slot for your treatment – and the magic begins.
Please note: We do have a 48 hour cancellation policy if we can’t fill your space or you don’t show up – full costs for the treatment will be due. We operate a very busy schedule as our treatments are very popular. Please let us know asap if you are unable to make your appointment. We do try to be as flexible as possible.
One of the most important steps is to undergo a patch test before your treatment. This test helps me to determine how your skin will react to the laser energy and can identify any potential skin sensitivities. Complications are very rare especially if you are treated by a level 4 trained practitioner with excellent upto date laser technology. However precautions should always be taken and protocols must be followed for the safest and most effective treatment for you and your skin type. More especially for darker skin types.
Here are some reasons why a patch test is essential:
- Skin Reactions: Laser energy can sometimes cause skin irritation, redness, or even burning. A patch test allows the skin’s sensitivity to be assessed to determine if the laser is likely to cause any adverse reactions.
- Allergic Reactions: These are unlikely, however, it is possible to have an allergic reaction to the laser or the cooling gel used during the treatment. A patch test can help determine if you have any allergies.
If you ever attend an appointment for a treatment you have never had before and they do not conduct a patch test, do ensure you ask for one. They help the provider to evaluate your skin’s response and decide on the best treatment process, including adjusting the laser settings if necessary.
Remember: Always follow the pre and post treatment advice given for the very best results. If you have any questions or concerns do ask. I have 14 years dedicated experience with laser hair removal ensuring you get the very best service and results.
