Everything You Need to Know Before, During and After Your Treatment This Summer
When summer arrives, so do the questions about laser hair removal. Can I have treatment if I’ve been in the sun? What if I’ve just come back from holiday? Should I wear SPF? At Bare UK, these are some of the most common questions we hear, and the good news is that summer does not mean you have to pause your laser journey. With a little planning and the right aftercare, many clients continue their treatments throughout the warmer months.
Our priority is always your safety, comfort and results. Every appointment starts with an assessment of your skin, so we can make sure it is the right time to treat you safely.
Can I Have Laser Hair Removal if I Have a Tan?
Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment within the hair follicle. If your skin has developed a natural tan, there is more pigment present in the skin too. This means treatment may not be suitable until your tan has faded. Rather than taking unnecessary risks, we will always advise you on the safest option for your skin on the day.
It’s really important that you are honest with us regarding sun exposure, as we work with you to avoid any adverse reactions that can arise with tanned skin.
Ideally, we will avoid treatment for 4 weeks if you have been actively tanning.
What About Fake Tan?
Fake tan should always be removed before your appointment. It can interfere with treatment and makes it difficult to accurately assess your skin. If you’re unsure whether all of your fake tan has come off, simply ask us before your visit.
Can I Go on Holiday During My Course?
Absolutely. Having a holiday booked does not mean you need to stop your treatment plan. Let us know your travel dates and we’ll help schedule your appointments around them. A little forward planning helps keep your course on track while making sure your skin has enough time before and after sun exposure.
Why SPF Matters
Protecting your skin from UV exposure is an important part of your laser hair removal journey. Wearing a broad-spectrum SPF50 every day on exposed treatment areas helps protect your skin and supports healthy recovery. If you’re unsure which product is right for you, we stock a professional SPF in clinic that we are always happy to recommend.
Simple Summer Tips
- Wear SPF daily on exposed treatment areas.
- Avoid prolonged sun exposure before and after treatment.
- Remove fake tan before your appointment.
- Tell us if you’ve recently been on holiday or noticed your skin has tanned.
- Follow all aftercare advice provided by your clinician.
- Get in touch if you’re unsure whether your skin is ready for treatment.
“I would highly recommend Julie’s laser hair removal services at Bare UK. Julie is very professional and a clear expert when it comes to laser treatments.
Julie offers an attention to detail which you cannot get at cheaper clinics. She is thorough, and able to keep track of my hair removal journey and adjust my treatment accordingly, whilst also offering helpful advice.
Using a cheap service before didn’t save me money, it just prolonged my hair removal journey – I wish I had started with Julie, as the results I have seen in just three months are far better than what I received in 10 weeks elsewhere.”
