Plucking, shaving, threading and waxing takes up a lot of your time, not to mention the pain factor. Imagine not having to continually worry about removing the hair from your legs, underarms, bikini line and other areas of the body – it’s a wonderful thought, isn’t it? With a handful of hair removal treatments at Bare UK, this thought can become a reality.

The world’s first and only ‘pain-free’ laser hair removal platform.
There are many Laser Hair Removal options on the market, and after extensive research, we have found that some are more effective than others.
At Bare UK we use The Motus AY by DEKA. This is the world’s first and only ‘pain-free’ laser hair removal platform which delivers the two gold-standard lasers in this field – TRUE Alexandrite & Nd:YAG. This new and unique laser hair removal device uses a specialist new technology: Moveo. The Moveo Hair Removal system enables successful treatment of the widest range of skin types, hair colours and textures from all parts of the body.
This technology is based on four fundamental principles:

Effective
Thanks to a sapphire tip, the handpiece design enables to doubles the energy transfer in comparison with standard laser systems. It mainly uses a wavelength of 755 nm, which is universally recognised as the most effective hair removal (especially for light and/or fine hair for which other wavelengths are ineffective).
Fast
Moveo acts with simple, even movements over specific areas, removing unwanted hair faster through its 20mm tip size.
Simple
The simplified software and integrated database permit rapid choice of treatment parameters for any phototype, area and hair type.
Safe
The contact cooling system integrated into handpiece guarantees maximum patient comfort.

How does Laser Hair Removal treatment work?
Each hair follicle goes through a growing and resting phase, and each treatment will damage the hair follicles that are in an early stage of their growth phase. This is why repeat procedures are necessary, as not every follicle may be in the growth stage each time we see you. To fully benefit from the effectiveness of our system, 4+ treatments are required to successfully damage most of the hair follicles in any chosen area. Treatments are generally 4–10 weeks apart depending on the area.
We know that this treatment can be expensive, so at Bare UK we try to keep our prices really competitive, with a free treatment included in every course booked.
Remember that in the long run this process will save you huge amounts of time, effort and money that you would otherwise spend on a lifetime of shaving and/or waxing. At Bare UK, once the hair is gone, it’s gone for good!
So many of our clients say they wish they had done this sooner!

What is laser hair removal and how does it work?

Laser is a form of light treatment. A laser system delivers a wavelength of light. The powerful burst of light to the hair causes damage to the hair follicle, as the melanin (dark pigment) absorbs the light and heats the hair, thereby removing the possibility of regrowth in that particular follicle. The darker the hair, the more it will absorb the laser, so the more it will heat up and damage the follicle.
The Alexandrite Laser System has a wavelength of 755 nm with a range of fluence between 6 and 8 J/cm2, with a spot size of 20 mm in diameter and frequency up to 10 Hz. The alexandrite laser is equipped with a special handpiece (Moveo) with an integrated cooling system. After applying a transparent gel or oil, the Moveo handpiece slides across the skin in a series of continuous circular or linear movements, aiming to pass several times over the same area. The repeated passes over small areas cause gradual heating of the vital parts of the hair leading to its destruction in a way that is painless for the patient.
In order to be permanent the hair needs to be in the anagen (first stage) of growth as it is still attached to the root which allows the connection for the damage to the blood supply of that particular hair to take place permanently. This is the reason for the need for repeat treatments to catch all the hairs in this stage. A course of laser treatments is usually required at 4 – 10 weekly intervals to follow the hair growth cycle.
What is the Laser Hair Removal treatment procedure?
Following an initial discussion with our laser practitioner to clearly establish your expectations, we will check your medical history with you to ensure there are no reasons for you not have the treatment. We will ask you to sign a consent form to confirm that you have understood the potential benefits and risks associated with this treatment.
With your well-being in mind, we will always perform a patch test (an laser treatment on a very small area of your skin) prior to a full treatment, to rule out any sensitivities or adverse effects you may have in response to the treatment. Following this, we can then book a convenient time for you to return for your next and full session, normally with 48 hours.
Does it hurt?
In the past, certain laser hair removal treatments were considerably painful – this is certainly not the case with the modern equipment we use today.
The Moveo comprises a contact cooling system integrated into handpiece which guarantees maximum patient comfort. The Moveo method consists of repeated passages on small areas, inducing a gradual heating of the vital parts of the hair and leading to their destruction in a way that most patients describe as virtually pain free.
Is it safe?
YES – in the hands of a fully qualified technician and if the correct safety procedures are followed. We will provide you with specialist safety eyewear, which you must wear during the treatment.
Who should NOT have this treatment?
You should not have Laser treatment if: you have been in the sun one month prior to treatment, you are pregnant, you have any sensitivity to light-based treatments, you have an active infection in the specific area, you have used the drug ‘Isotretinoin’ in the last year, or if you have taken St John’s Wort in the past three months. Certain medications can not be taken during treatment. For further information, we can email you a pre-care treatment sheet with further information on contraindications.
Can people with darker skin have this treatment?
Moveo treats all Photo-types from fair skin to dark skin, including Skin Type 6 (black skin). The great thing about the machine is that also has the nd:YAG Laser option which is renowned for treating skin types IV – VI.
Traditionally laser hair removal has only suitable for the treatment of hair removal on fair skin as darker skin contains far more of the same pigment that can be targeted and damaged by this wavelength.
DEKA Laser has overcome this issue through the development of Moveo technology. Now all skin types of all colour may be treated safely and effectively.
Does this treatment work on all hair types?
Moveo utilizes an Alexandrite wavelength that successfully targets and treats even fine, light brown hair.
However, even with this great machine we still have some restrictions that all lasers have – no laser will treat white, red, grey or blonde hair. The hair does have to have some melanin (pigment) to it, so it can’t work on white, very blonde, or red hair. But if it has slight pigment i.e dark blonde, red-brown- then this machine will pick it up and should get results.
If the hair is vellus (very fine and fluffy) then again no laser can really work on that but if is fine to medium then we can achieve some great results
With white, grey and blonde, lighter hair we recommend Electrolysis at The Tao Beauty Salon, read more here.
I have heard that this is permanent hair removal – is this the case?
Although there is a dramatic reduction of unwanted hair, it is likely that a few hair follicles will not be completely destroyed by light treatment. Many people will experience some hair growth within a year, but this will only be the odd hair here or there and will be quite insignificant compared to the original density of the hair prior to any laser treatment. Many of our clients are over the moon with the results!
Due to hormonal activity in younger people or people with PCOS more sessions may be required.
