Onychomycosis (fungal nail infections) can be painful and unsightly and are contagious and down right distressing – especially as summer approaches. It’s important to stop the fungus from spreading. Laser therapy uses light at particular wavelengths to interact with and kill the fungus without affecting the healthy skin. Combined with the correct preparation and aftercare, faster results can be achieved than traditional methods.
Fungal nail infections are a very common problem affecting around 3 in every 100 people in the UK The responsible fungus is usually the same as that that causes athlete’s foot.
Motus AY laser system
Here at Bare uk – we use the magnificent Motus AY laser system utilising the Nd: YAG laser to destroy the fungus and restore your toes to their former glory! The procedure is generally well tolerated with little discomfort.
Professional Diagnosis
Before you embark on your laser fungal nail removal journey with us – we will require a written diagnosis from a professional podiatrist/chiropodist to confirm the presence of fungus because there are many things that look like it, but which actually aren’t! Some GP practices may do this for you also.
Proper Preparation
We highly recommend Zest Podiatry who are just a stone’s throw from us on Abingdon Road. We feel this will also help improve your chances at getting your toes back to normal again faster and stay that way long term. Preparation of the nails prior to treatment is imperative for a much more successful treatment and a podiatrist will help you with that initially.
It’s also really important to use an anti fungal cream in between treatments to stop further spread.
We will supply you with a free tube of this with your first treatment.

Laser treatment for fungal nail infections is generally considered to be side effect free, producing no harm to the nail or surrounding skin. The previously infected and damaged nail will shed naturally as the nail grows, bringing fresh, healthy, uninfected nail along to replace it.
The treatment can feel mildly uncomfortable as the nail bed is heated enough to destroy the fungal infection.
On average 4-8 treatments are required 2-3 weeks apart.
Some clients see improvements after just 1 or 2 treatments. Before and after care plays a vital part in the outcome.
Remember, all fungal nail treatments require the new, cured nail to grow out, which can take up to a year!
Please note: Results are not guaranteed, and refunds cannot be given.
