Cherry Angiomas are sometimes known as ‘Campbell de Morgan spots’ and are very common. They are small, bright red bumps on your skin and they’re harmless to your overall health.
However, if you don’t like how they look, we can easily remove them if they are less than 3mm in diameter.
Treatment is similar to that used for thread vein removal. We use the highly effective Nd:Yag laser for Cherry Angioma removal. Generally they can be successfully removed in one appointment. A follow up treatment may be required on larger spots, or if you have many of them.

How does Cherry Angioma removal work?
Light energy is applied to the skin where it is readily absorbed by blood vessels.
The laser beam reacts with the colour in the blood within the Cherry Angoima, creating heat which damages the blemish walls and seals them off. The light applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The applicator is moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. During treatment, protective eyewear will be provided.
After treatment cherry angiomas typically darken, scab, and peel within a few weeks.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Treatment is suitable for most people with skin types 1-3. Best results are obtained for those with fair skin, and there is less chance of side effects.
How does the treatment feel?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable but there is no need for anaesthesia and the procedure is actually quite quick. Sensations vary but most describe it as a very quick hot pin prick.
Are there any side effects?
After treatment the area may feel warm for a few hours. Rarely, some delicate skin areas such as the cheeks or décolleté can be red and slightly swollen for a few days. Occasionally there is a chance a small blister may form and there could be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.
How long does each treatment take?
Treatments typically take between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the number and size of Cherry Angiomas.
How many treatments are necessary?
Typically 3 to 5 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small veins may clear in just a single session. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4 to 6 weeks.
We will always see you for a consultation and patch test before carrying out a full treatment and at that time we will give you an estimate of the time and therefore the cost of treating your individual problem area.
