IPL – Is it safe?
I get asked a lot by potential customers whether IPL is a safe treatment.
The straight answer is as long as all the protocols and safety measures are followed then yes IPL is a safe and very effective treatment.
For Bare training came in various forms. Firstly the safety course where you learn the hazards of IPL and laser. If you are working with a top grade machine such as the one we have invested in at Bare uk to achieve the best results, then these machines are powerful and are to be treated with respect and caution as they can cause permanent eye damage and burning to the skin in the wrong hands.
The safety course is called the Core of Knowledge and must be completed before you start officially training with the manufacturer on their product.
Our IPL machine was developed and manufactured in the UK and after our initial training we have constant back up and support on the system.
Once the training is completed and certificates have been issued the next step is insurance – in the unlikely case of an accident, a business with laser or IPL MUST have adequate insurance.
The most important aspects with regards to treating IPL safely are as follows:
- A patch test and full consultation MUST take place at least 24 hours before commencing full treatment. This is an essential part of the process to ascertain whether the client is suitable for the treatment.
- The client MUST always wear the correct protective eyewear during any laser or IPL treatment.
- The customer MUST always let the IPL operator know if they have had any change in medication or if they have been tanning (either fake or real) in the past 4 weeks. Failure to do so can result in burning.
- Depending on the machine, cold gel is used to keep the skin cool during treatment and Aloe is used after to reduce any irritation or reaction, generally the reaction is minimal depending on the treatment..
IPL hair removal is such an effective treatment with great and proven results.
At Bare we have many clients who are really over the moon with the amount of hair reduction they have seen in just a short course of treatments. Have a look at our testimonial page on our website for genuine comments from genuine customers.
