The IPL (Intense Pulse Light) procedure – step by step.
Snow has come and gone and look…. we are nearly at the end of January – can you believe it! – I mean Easter eggs are on the shelves and we will be flipping pancakes before you know it!!
So seriously though I know it may seem like I am trying to flog my wares (really!)
But this is a really good time to start IPL hair removal for dramatic permanent hair reduction ready for the gorgeous summer we are going to have this year (we are due one after last year’s wash out right?)
IPL can seem like quite a daunting experience for some – but once you have tried it you really begin to see the benefits even after one treatment.
So I am just going to talk about some few main points with regards to IPL hair removal today – just incase you were considering effortless baby soft legs as an option!
Step 1. Give us a call or drop us an email and we will book you in for a patch test, we are happy to answer any queries or doubts you may have.
Step 2. Come along to your appointment in Central Oxford, where you will fill out a form with some personal and medical details just to make sure you are suitable for this treatment.
Step 3. A patch test will be performed – this is usually on the area required for treating unless it’s on the face then we tend to do it on the back of your neck. This just tests for any potential and very rare adversities to the treatment.
See above for the head we use to perform the treatment – the patch test is generally 3-5 shots depending on the area.
Step 4. You pay a deposit and we book you in for your first treatment.
Step 5. With in a couple of weeks of your patch test we get you back in for your treatment. The length of time it takes depends on what areas of the body you are wishing to treat. If you would like multiple areas then it is best to get it done at the same time, which also gives you the benefit of the generous discounts we offer if you do more than one area at once.
Step 6. The actual treatment: We apply special cold gel which keeps the skin cool and helps transmit the light created by the IPL into the skin. The sensation of IPL feels like an elastic band pinch, and you feel a little bit of heat too. This sensation is over in a flash – literally, it’s not too painful but can be more sensitive for some especially in the bikini or upper lip areas.. But it’s over so quickly so you don’t have to worry too much! (Just think of the results…. If this was waxing you’d be doing this every month for ever and a day – but it’s IPL so there will be an end to it sooner than you think!
Step 7. There are a few things best to avoid that day ie heat related activities such as hot baths, showers, swimming, workouts etc. We provide you with a before and after care sheet when you come in for your patch test.
Step 8. Payment: The most painful part I am afraid – but for many who wax this will be a financial godsend and for those that shave a time saving blessing in the end! You can take advantage of one of our unique and huge money saving packages or pay for individual treatments.
Step 9. We schedule your next appointment to work with your hair cycle to make sure you get maximum benefit from the hair cycle. We talk through this at the time but generally there is a gap of about 5-8 weeks between treatments depending on the area.
Step 10. First treatment done and dusted – time to celebrate – you are now on your way to permanently removing a serious amount of that unwanted hair!
Step 11, 12, 13 etc etc A few more steps down the line summer comes around and you will be feeling fabulous – infact it’s really easy to start taking effortless hair free skin for granted…. Yay!!!
So what are you waiting for – we are here waiting for you!!!
Happy 2013 to a new hair free you…..
